spized supports the IG Handball Best Practice Award 2026

Every day, clubs in Germany achieve extraordinary things—often without budgets, without a stage, and without the attention they deserve. IG Handball wants to change that: With the Best Practice Award 2026, it is honouring two handball clubs for the first time for their commitment. spized is a partner of the award and provides each winning club with a custom-designed jersey set.

Clubs can win a set of jerseys from spized.

Best Practice Award 2026: Two categories, two winners

Two clubs will be recognized for their outstanding commitment to advancing their club, their community, or handball as a whole—regardless of club size or league level.

The award is presented in two categories:

  • Commitment to handball (e.g., volunteer work, member recruitment, club development, or special events)
  • Handball for everyone (e.g., integration and inclusion projects, school partnerships, or programs for new target groups)

“We want to make clubs visible that deserve it”

“Great ideas in handball are emerging every day across Germany. However, many of them remain unknown beyond their own clubs,” says Marco Kehrenberg, board member of IG Handball. “With the Best Practice Award, we want to give these projects a platform, reward clubs for their commitment, and at the same time create inspiration for others. We are not interested in who has the biggest hall or the largest budget, but in who makes a difference with good ideas.”

“Club sport does not function through budget, but through people who get involved. These are exactly the clubs we want to reach with the Club Academy—and that is precisely why the Best Practice Award fits what we do. We don’t just want to provide jerseys, but to make clubs visible that deserve it,” says Phillip Oldenburg, club editor at spized.

In addition to a custom jersey set from spized, the winning clubs will each receive €1,500 in prize money, provided by Toni Mester (DVAG), as well as 150 individually designed team socks from Nahtstelle. In addition, the clubs will be supported with editorial coverage and featured across the various channels of IG Handball and its partners.

Best Practice Award 2026: How to apply

Clubs can submit their projects via email to info@ighandball.de. A short written description, a presentation, or a video is sufficient. The format is not decisive—the key factors are the idea and its impact. A jury consisting of representatives of IG Handball and the award partners will evaluate submissions based on impact, creativity, engagement, and transferability to other clubs.

The application period runs from July 6 to July 31, 2026. The winners will be announced on August 5, 2026.
