When hundreds of kids and teenagers get moving at the COMM:UNITY Festival in summer, one thing is guaranteed: energy, emotions, and plenty of good vibes. This year, another special guest joined in – Big Moe. The host, children’s book author, and content creator accompanied the festival on stage and even visually became part of the movement – in a custom-designed spized jersey.
But why does this partnership fit so well? Why does Moe dedicate himself to formats like this? And what connects him with spized? After the event, we asked him exactly that – and talked with him about values, responsibility, and the importance of sport for young people.
Lukas (spized): Big Moe, you’re a host, children’s book author, and content creator, but above all someone who works a lot with kids and teenagers. What does sport mean to you personally, and what role does it play in the lives of young people?
Big Moe: “For me, sport is first and foremost something that’s good for the body, but also clearly: pure fun! I love team sports, so for me it’s always about meeting friends, sharing experiences, and feeling connected. Especially for young people, sport plays a huge role. You learn playfully what it means to win and to lose. And that’s one of the most important life lessons: being able to handle both sides well.”
spized: How can sport help convey values like respect, fairness, or teamwork?
Big Moe: “For me it’s clear: without respect, fairness, and teamwork, it’s not real sport. These values aren’t extras, they’re essential. You can see that not only on the field, but also off it. Whether it’s the World Cup, a weekend in the gym, or a neighborhood pitch: fans and teams stick together, cheer each other on, show respect – and in the end, it’s all about having a good day together. That’s exactly what makes sport so special.”
spized: At the Community Festival you were on stage as host, wearing our spized jersey. What made you decide to do that?
Big Moe: “I was actually looking for some Papa Moe merch – and suddenly, an Instagram ad for spized popped up. Right away I thought: this fits! The brand, the festival, the message – it all clicked immediately. And then, when I saw the configurator with what felt like a billion options, I thought: okay, I’m here for several days – I need several jerseys!”
