Together for sport: spized and FAIRPLAID launch crowdfunding initiative for sports clubs

Cologne, 21 February 2025 - The sporting goods manufacturer spized and the crowdfunding provider FAIRPLAID are joining forces to provide sports clubs with financial start-up support for their team equipment. With a special start-up financing programme, clubs will be supported in launching and successfully implementing their own crowdfunding projects on the FAIRPLAID platform.

spized

spized is a leading provider of customised sportswear and enables clubs, teams and groups in more than 20 sports to design their own sportswear and order it directly online. The mission of the Cologne-based company is to bring colour, creativity and personality into the grey everyday life of sporting goods and thus make possible for all amateur athletes what is already standard in professional sport: to pursue their passion in individual clothing of the highest quality - and not in mass-produced off-the-peg clothing. These creative design options and other innovative advantages for clubs, teams and groups in the design and ordering process make spized the perfect partner for popular sports.

FAIRPLAID

FAIRPLAID is Germany's leading crowdfunding provider in the sports sector and helps clubs and athletes to raise funds for their projects. The aim is to ensure that every meaningful sports project can be realised. FAIRPLAID supports project starters with personalised support and advice and helps to strengthen social cohesion. Together, the two companies now want to offer sports clubs a new way to secure funding for their team equipment.

Financial support for popular sport

Many sports clubs are faced with the challenge of financing the purchase of playing kit, training equipment or the realisation of infrastructure measures. This is exactly where the cooperation comes in: Clubs that launch a crowdfunding project for sports equipment via FAIRPLAID can secure start-up financing from spized amounting to 11% of the target sum, up to a maximum of 750 euros per project. This should make it easier to get started with financing and increase the chances of success of the campaigns. More about crowdfunding in sport.

Together for sport

‘With this initiative, we want to motivate clubs to launch a campaign and ultimately realise their projects more quickly,’ explains Ansgar Pfeifenbring, Head of Sales at spized. ‘FAIRPLAID has established itself as the leading crowdfunding platform for sport, and together we can create real added value for clubs.’

Michael Gerken, Head of Impact at FAIRPLAID, also emphasises the importance of the partnership: ‘Crowdfunding is a great way for sports clubs to involve their members and generate funds together. Thanks to FAIRPLAID coaching, clubs also benefit from structural improvements and gain new members, volunteers and sponsors. With the support of spized, the clubs now have an additional incentive to become active and involve their community. This means even more clubs can benefit.’

How participation works

Clubs wishing to benefit from the start-up funding can apply for it via a Fairplaid campaign - as long as the funding pot is still full. The funding is aimed at teams from different sports who want to realise a clearly defined project with a minimum target sum of 2,000 euros.
