The best team trip ideas - 10 tips for your next team trip

You won the championship with your team or avoided relegation? The best way to celebrate is on your team trip. But where should it go? We have put together a list of the best team trip ideas.
After a tough season, you deserve to celebrate properly as a team. The best way to do that is on a team trip, because they have the nice side effect that the stories you experience bond you and will be a topic in the dressing room again and again in the coming season. But where do you go with the team? What do you have to look out for? We've put together 10 ideas for team trips in Germany and beyond - maybe you'll find a team trip secret tip or two among them.

Tips for your next team trip

But before we get started, we have a few general tips for you. Because it's often not that easy to get a whole team together. With poll tools like Doodle or Google Forms, you can narrow down a time period when as many people as possible can come along. The earlier you plan your team trip, the greater the chance that most team members will find time and that your team trip ideas will be worthwhile. You can exert a bit of pressure by linking a response to your list of penalties. If you don't vote or send a proposal on time, you will have to pay into the team treasury. You should keep an eye on the team fund throughout the season, because the fuller it is, the more you can celebrate afterwards.

You should also decide in advance when and how long you want to travel. Also keep an eye on possible relegation matches! You don't want half the team to be drinking sangria on Mallorca during the decisive promotion match. It's best to set up a group of team members to plan your team trip and make suggestions early on about where it could go.

It's also best to decide whether your team trip should be all-inclusive, half-board or self-catering. And of course, whether you want to go further away or stay in your country. But maybe you should take a look at our 10 team trip ideas first and then decide.

10 destinations for the team trip

Team Trip Budapest: "Paris of the East" and Island of Freedom

Fancy a city break with the team? Then you should definitely put Budapest on your map. There are cheap direct flights from many airports to the capital of Hungary, which is also known as the "Paris of the East". Besides the impressive architecture, Budapest also captivates with its nightlife. After a few cheap beers in the city's bars, you can move on to the clubs. The next day, we recommend a visit to Budapest's famous thermal baths.

The steam of the hot water is a great way to cure a hangover after a night of drinking. Depending on your condition, you'll have to see if the national dish goulash is right for you. Of course, there are also plenty of alternatives.

Depending on how it fits in with the start of your season, you should also visit Sziget during your stay in Budapest. The music festival with many international top artists and world stars takes place every year in early to mid-August on an island in the Danube in the middle of Budapest. There is something for every musical taste at the seven-day festival, for which day tickets are also available. As a citizen of the Island of Freedom, also called Szitizens, you can party there until late at night. During the day, there are various art and acrobatic attractions on the grounds.

Team Trip Prague: Bathing in Beer

We continue with another Eastern European capital, Prague. You can also reach the "golden city" with your team from many airports by direct flight. Depending on where you live, you can also get to Prague by train. The Czech capital knows how to impress with its sights, such as the Charles Bridge or Prague Castle, as well as with its culinary offerings. And especially when it comes to beer, the choice is almost inexhaustible. Beer brewing has a long tradition in the Czech Republic. Numerous Czech beers are served in the city's beer halls. Ideal for getting in the mood for the team trip before you head off to one of the many clubs.

You can even bathe in beer in the so-called beer spas. In addition to the hoppy additive in the water, which is supposed to prevent skin diseases and simply have a relaxing effect, you also get a freshly tapped beer in your hand. By the way, the same thing is also available with wine. As you can see, there is much more than just the classic team trip ideas. But of course they also belong in this article...

Team trip Mallorca: Mallorca is only once a year, but it doesn't always have to be the same

Of course, the classic team trip should not be missing from this list: Mallorca.

The Spanish Balearic island is probably one of the most popular destinations for team trips. But not all Majorca is the same. In addition to the hit stronghold of El Arenal with its mega-park, Bierkönig, Oberbayern and long sandy beach near the island's capital, Palma, you'll find Cala Ratjada, another party town in the east of the island. In the centre of town you will find numerous discos, bars and beer gardens. Here you'll find beer fountains, where you'll find the classic Schlager, as well as clubs where you'll find charts, house, RnB, hip-hop, electro sounds and house. And of course you don't have to do without beach and sea here either. In addition to a 500-metre-long sandy beach, there are also smaller bays that invite you to take a leisurely swim and relax. If you are planning a party trip to Mallorca with your team, the right jerseys for your squad are of course a must. In our 3D configurator, you can easily design your own team travel outfit

If you don't need non-stop partying on your team trip, one idea for your team could be to rent a finca. There you can mix your own drinks by the pool and set off on beach trips or hiking and cycling tours. Because mountainous Mallorca is also a paradise for athletes. And if you can't quite manage without disco and Ballermann on your team trip, you can bundle up for a taxi for a day or two and go to El Arenal or Cala Ratjada.

Team trip on the party train - The journey is the destination

You can't wait to celebrate the season together and want to get started on the way? Then a party train could be a team trip idea for you. Especially in Germany the party-train is a huge thing. From different corners of Germany and with different stops along the way, you can travel to destinations in Germany or the Netherlands. Destinations include Hamburg and Norderney. You can then combine the train trip with a few days' stay at your destination. Hamburg, of course, has the classic Reeperbahn, but Norderney also has pubs and discos and some sports facilities.

So if you're thinking of taking the party train, you'll have to keep an eye on the dates and be quick. Places on party trains are naturally limited and trips are not necessarily offered on a regular basis. You should keep this in mind when planning your trip.

Team trip on the boat: Off to new shores

The term team captain is to be taken literally with this idea for your team trip. Because you're going on a boat. But your captain may have to take a back seat and leave the helm to a professional. Because on rented boat trips there is an experienced skipper and usually also a sailor on board. You don't need any previous experience, but you do have to lend a hand. The seamen will show you the necessary moves. Such tours are actually offered along the entire North Sea and Baltic Sea coast. You can find tours on the German North Sea coast, for example, but also on the Dutch coast.

If you want to go a little further afield, there are also offers in the Mediterranean. In the harbours where you stop, you can visit pubs and bars. Sleeping together in a cabin also brings you closer together as a team. And one more tip: Anti-nausea medicines are generally available in the first-aid kit for team trips, but you might want to take some specifically for seasickness. As you can see, there are not only cities as destinations for team trips. The journey can also be the destination.

Team trip Germany: With the whole team to the Moselle region

It doesn't always have to be sea and beer. River and wine is also quite a nice alternative: the Moselle region is known for its delicious wines and beautiful landscape. There are shared houses here that are ideal for large groups such as sports teams. Since they are often a little out of the way, you can also party there. Or you can sample the different wines over good food in the region's wine cellars. During the day, you can explore the region on wine hikes or bike tours, or jump into the Moselle and surrounding bathing lakes. And if you don't like wine, beer is also available here.

You haven't had enough yet? With the team to a fun tournament

Are you still hungry for competition after the season? Then fun tournaments are the right destination for your team trip. You can compete, but the main thing is to have fun. After all, the actual season is over. One idea is the small-field tournament in Zernien. In this small community in Lower Saxony, 96 teams play football on round pitches for a whole weekend. There's food, drinks (you also get a flat) and a festival where pop singers perform and DJs play in the evening. You can stay in a hotel for an extra charge or bring your own tents. Maybe you'll add a day or two in Hamburg afterwards. The Hanseatic city is about 1 hour and 15 minutes away by car.

If drinking as a sport is to the fore, a flunkyball tournament might be something for your team. In Kalkar, near the Dutch border, a tournament is held on two weekends. There's a foam party, karaoke and you can rediscover your inner child as a team at Wunderland Kalkar. Or you can take a look at what other fun tournaments there are outside the sport you actually play. On the German North Sea coast, for example, there have been beach basketball tournaments in recent years where anyone can register.

Team trip to Ibiza - partying without an end

With Ibiza, we have included another Balearic island besides Mallorca in this list of team trip ideas. There's probably no better place in the world to party. At least if you believe the readers of the trade magazine "DJ Mag". They have once again voted three clubs on the Spanish island into the top 10 of the best clubs worldwide in 2022. With Hï Ibiza, Ibiza even takes first place. And with Ushuaïa Ibiza, another top address is just a stone's throw away. This is in fact just across the road in the town of Playa de'n Bossa.

Admission to the clubs, where top international DJs like David Guetta, Tiësto and Martin Garrix play night after night, is based on the artists and is top class. The situation is similar with the drinks in the clubs. But if the team's coffers are well filled, that can be done too. If you can't get enough, Ibiza is definitely the place to be. You can party in the clubs until 8 o'clock in the morning. However, it's important that guests don't wear leotards. But you might be able to get away with a particularly chic team travel outfit, which you can design individually in our jersey configurator.

Team trip to Renesse: Off to Holland

Especially for teams next to the Netherlands, the Dutch coastal town of Renesse is a popular destination for team trips. Situated directly on the North Sea, the town offers numerous party options. The streets of the town are a great place to party. Especially at Whitsun, the small town becomes a party stronghold and the streets are packed with party animals. From your campsite or hotel, you can quickly reach the kilometre-long sandy beach, which also has special sports areas.

It takes about an hour and a half by car from Renesse to Amsterdam. Maybe you can make a detour to the Dutch capital on your team trip. A visit to the city with its many canals, bars, clubs and - yes - coffee shops is definitely worthwhile.

Further away? Team trip to Croatia or to the Gold Beach in Bulgaria

You want to go a bit further afield with your team? Then we have two party beaches for you. First, the Zrce Festival Beach on the Croatian island of Pag. Admittedly, the name isn't easy to pronounce, but that'll go away if you party enough as a team. And there's partying here all summer long. The name "Festival Beach" is absolutely appropriate. It starts with the spring break in May. Festivals and parties follow almost weekly until the beginning of September. There's bound to be something for your team trip.

And if you do have problems pronouncing Zrce Festival Beach, Gold Beach in Bulgaria might be a little more suitable for you. The beach on the Black Sea is also known as the "Ballermann of the Balkans". This is because German pop stars can also be found here and party locations such as Megapark and Bierkönig can be found here. But you can also find locations with house music here. And along the four-kilometre-long sandy beach there are always beach bars where you can party with your crew.
