This is how long jersey flocking takes

How long does it actually take to have a jersey flocked? In this article we tell you how long you have to wait for your jersey to be flocked.

What is a jersey flocking at all?

With flocking, fine fibres are heaped together on a film-like substrate. These have a velvety, soft surface with a height of a few millimetres. The fibres are cut out of this flock-coated foil with a machine to obtain the desired motif. The flock motif is then ready to be placed on the textiles. Now the jersey goes into a press that melts a durable adhesive between the flock and the textile at about 170 °C for a few seconds. One disadvantage of the flocking process is that the material of the jersey is pasted over. This means that jersey properties such as breathability can no longer be guaranteed.

How long does the jersey flocking take?

To flock a jersey, you first need a ready-made jersey. You can choose from a wide range of suppliers with different prices. Usually, the jersey is a standard jersey from a well-known sporting goods manufacturer. At this point, you can expect a delivery time of up to one week. Once the jersey has arrived, it has to be sent to the print shop for flocking. Here, the jersey is handed in to have logos, names, numbers, etc. placed on it. For individual jerseys, this process is usually very quick, so that you can pick up the flocked jersey after a few days.

However, if you want to have jerseys for the entire team or club flocked at the print shop, you can expect a production and delivery time of up to six weeks, especially during the high season. However, this cannot be said as a general rule, as the final duration always depends on the capacity utilisation of the printing plant. So you should always allow for a buffer if you don't want to be without jerseys at the start of the new season.

Another point that costs time and nerves is the data transfer. With the flocking process, you often have to send your logo to the provider. In many cases, this leads to queries, such as a logo file with a better resolution. Handling this process completely online saves time.

Flocked jerseys for newcomers

Every club and every team knows the problem: a newcomer joins the team and needs the same jersey with a player's name and a shirt number. With the procedure already described, the ordering process would start all over again, so that the newcomer would have to wait a few weeks for his jersey.
In addition, reordering is associated with additional costs for many suppliers, so that you even have to pay a surcharge for small quantities. So in the long run, reordering individual jerseys represents a considerable cost factor. Sounds like flocking jerseys is too expensive for you? With sublimation printing, you can significantly reduce the costs and also the duration of jersey flocking.
With the sublimation printing process at spized you save a lot of time.

Sublimation printing - reduce the duration of jersey flocking

Sublimation printing is a digital printing process in which colour pigments are vapourised into the textile. In contrast to jersey flocking, this process alone saves time. The most efficient way to get new jerseys quickly and cheaply is sublimation printing paired with a complete online ordering process, as you can save yourself annoying enquiries about graphics and logos.
At spized, you can complete the entire ordering process online and have your custom jerseys printed. With a production time of 12 working days, we are one of the fastest suppliers on the market. You will receive your ordered jerseys after about two weeks. In addition to an efficient production method, sublimation printing has other advantages, which we present to you below:

1. Cost-effective production

Conventional textile printing methods have a decisive disadvantage: the costs increase with each additional motif. If you want four logos on your jersey, for example, the price for the flock is around 20 euros per jersey - no matter how many jerseys you order. With sublimation printing with spized, you can add as many motifs as you like free of charge.

2. Fast production time

Commercial printing processes often require post-processing (e.g. the provider needs logos in a higher resolution, etc.), which is very time-consuming. With spized, all your files go through a graphic check and retreatments can be tackled digitally right away, without you having to do anything. 3. Quality and durability

The sublimation of the colour pigments ensures that the printed textiles are very resilient. You are certainly familiar with the problem of flexographic printing: After a few washes, the printed motifs break. This cannot happen with sublimation printing.

4. Excellent print result

There is no textile printing process that can reproduce motifs in such high quality as sublimation printing. Even complex photographs can be reproduced very precisely on the jersey using sublimation. The result: colour-intensive and long-lasting motifs that do not fade even after frequent washing.

5. Reorderable designs

Sports clubs often have to reorder jerseys or purchase completely new sets of jerseys because the current collection has run out. Re-ordering the jerseys is on the one hand very expensive and on the other hand extremely time-consuming. With the sublimation printing process, the design or the jersey can be created and stored. This means that a repeat production is possible at any time.

6. Material properties are retained

With ordinary textile printing methods, the jersey is pasted over. This is not the case with sublimation printing. Accordingly, the material properties of the jersey remain completely intact. This is a decisive advantage, especially for sports activities, because the jersey remains breathable in this way.

7. Flexible design options

The digital printing process allows you to give free rein to your creativity. Other printing techniques are very limited in their choice of colour palette, as they only work with colours that are already in stock. With spized, all colours are available to you, so that all possibilities are open in terms of design. The quality of the print results is excellent for both photographs and graphics.
