Basically, there are many finishing techniques that make the jersey unique. Finishing is the subsequent application of logos, names, numbers, initials or other imprints. Flocking is a popular way of adding club names, numbers or sponsors to a jersey. The flock basically consists of two different components: Felt-like flock fibres and a special adhesive. The two components work together to ensure that the logo, name or number sticks to the jersey.
The flocking process is certainly a good solution for visualising club names on the jersey - but it also has its limits. After some time, sweat, UV radiation and numerous washing processes can cause the felt to come off the jersey. Moreover, as soon as several components and colours are to be printed on the jersey, the flocking process is significantly more expensive than other printing processes. Especially with a high number of pieces, the costs for jersey flocking can quickly rise with the classic flocking process.
