Donau Volleys Regensburg and spized Launch Joint MVP Donation Campaign

Donau Volleys Regensburg are competing in the 2nd Volleyball Bundesliga South for the first time in 2026/27. MVP medals for the most valuable players on both teams are standard practice at this level — gold for the winner, silver for the loser. Following home matches at the Clermont-Ferrand-Halle in Regensburg, both MVPs will also receive a custom-designed and produced MVP shirt from spized, tailored specifically to the matchday.

As of 5 October 2026 · This article will be updated after each Donau Volleys Regensburg home match.

How the MVP Donation Works

That's not all: over the course of the season, every Donau Volleys MVP will name a charitable cause alongside their sporting accolade, to which spized will subsequently donate €200. Clubs, initiatives, projects from Regensburg and the Upper Palatinate — the choice lies with the top player of the matchday, not with the club, nor with kit supplier spized. The donation thus becomes a permanent fixture of every Regensburg home match in the 2nd Volleyball Bundesliga South, regardless of whether the match is won or lost.

Across the season's 13 home matches, a total of €2,600 will be raised and directed towards charitable causes. On this page, we will document where every single donation goes — matchday by matchday.

This aligns perfectly with the resolution that Donau Volleys have championed: four core values guide the club's work — colourful, united, social, and role-model. "Without a team culture, there is no team," says co-founder and board member Fernando Acosta in our Club Portrait. The MVP donation directly targets what the club considers its core mission: giving back to society, not just competing on the court.

The Donations in Detail

Home match 1: Donau Volleys Regensburg vs. L.E. Volleys Leipzig 1:3

MVP: Kim Huber · Donation to: Kinderzentrum St. Martin, Regensburg · 200 Euros

The home opener in the 2nd Bundesliga ended in a 1–3 defeat to L.E. Volleys Leipzig — the second club in the Southern Division to feature spized kits. On the Regensburg side, Kim Huber was named MVP and directed the €200 donation to the St. Martin Children's Centre (Kinderzentrum St. Martin) in Regensburg.

The centre is a social paediatric centre operated by the Catholic Youth Welfare Association of the Diocese of Regensburg. Paediatricians, psychologists, and therapists work together to detect and treat developmental disorders in children and adolescents at an early stage. Outpatient treatment is provided whenever standard practice care is insufficient.

Home Match 2: Donau Volleys Regensburg – VC Dresden 3:0

MVP: Jonas Daschke · Donation to: Theo - Center for Animal-Assisted Therapies in Eastern Bavaria · €200

In their second home match of the inaugural second-division season, Donau Volleys celebrated a 3:0 home victory against VC Dresden. For the Regensburg team, it was the first Bundesliga home win in the club's history. Jonas Daschke was named the Volleys' MVP. His €200 donation goes to Theo - Center for Animal-Assisted Therapies in Eastern Bavaria.

Theo is an initiative of vkm Regensburg and a center for animal-assisted therapies and inclusive programs in Zeitlarn near Regensburg. With specially trained animals, Theo supports children, adolescents and adults with and without disabilities. Animal-assisted therapy aims to strengthen self-confidence, social skills, motor skills and quality of life while also creating opportunities for interaction and participation.

Why spized Provides the Donation

We have been equipping Donau Volleys for two years. For their debut season in the 2nd Bundesliga, our partnership has grown: in addition to home and away kits, the first team will now feature warm-up shirts, coaching staff apparel, and matching socks, while a total of twelve Regensburg teams take to the court in a unified design.

A kit is one thing. The MVP donation is an effort to take something more away from matchday — €200 that stays beyond the arena. Who receives the award is decided by the match. Where the money goes is decided by the player.

Frequently Asked Questions About the MVP Donation

Who receives the MVP award at Donau Volleys home matches? Two players are honoured per home match: the most valuable player from the winning team (gold MVP shirt) and the MVP from the losing side (silver MVP shirt).

How much is the donation and who pays it? €200 per home match, provided by spized. Across the 13 home matches of the 2026/27 season, this totals €2,600.

Who decides where the money goes? The honoured Donau Volleys player. He names a charitable cause of his choice.

Is the donation still made if Donau Volleys lose? Yes. One player from each team is honoured, and one of them always plays for Donau Volleys. The donation is tied to him, not to the match result.

Does the visiting team's MVP also get to direct a donation? No. The honoured player from the visiting side receives the personalised MVP shirt, while the donation remains with the Donau Volleys MVP.
