For the 2026 Football World Cup, three Cologne-based brands are joining forces: spized, the customisable sportswear brand for grassroots sports; the Gaffel Kölsch brewery; and the Kölschbar, which serves as the physical anchor point for the campaign. The result of this collaboration is a limited-edition spized World Cup shirt, which the Kölschbar staff will wear throughout the entire tournament.

"Our aim is to provide grassroots sports with what is standard in professional sports – customised kits for memorable team moments. Naturally, this sense of community also comes alive during public screenings," says Robin Teppich, CEO and founder of spized. The former professional handball player further explains: "That’s why we wanted to design a unique fan shirt for the World Cup that is deeply rooted in our hometown, alongside partners that belong to Cologne just as much as we do."

Design inspired by the 2026 away kit

Visually, the shirt takes its inspiration from the German away kit for the 2026 World Cup. Instead of the usual sponsor logos, the Cologne version features the three partners: spized, Gaffel, and the Kölschbar. This transforms a national jersey into a local edition with a distinct Cologne touch.

"During the World Cup, people from all over the city come together at our venue to watch football. We at the Kölschbar love being this anchor point, and a shirt that puts this city on display fits perfectly," says Dennis Busch, operator of the Kölschbar.

Limited edition up for grabs via Instagram

Football fans will also soon have the chance to win the shirt. Between 14 and 16 June, 50 limited-edition shirts will be given away via an Instagram campaign. Full details will be shared by the three brands across their respective Instagram channels.

"Major tournaments are great fun, but football truly thrives on local grassroots clubs. Supporting the youth section at Casa España was therefore the obvious choice for us as part of this campaign." – Sebastian Lenninghausen, Head of Product Management at Gaffel

Counteracting the decline of amateur sports clubs

Despite record-breaking membership numbers, more and more clubs are being forced to close. There are too few members willing to volunteer in club management, and too little funding. Gaffel and spized are teaming up to counteract this trend by donating €1,000 in cash along with a full team kit to the football club Casa España. For years, spized has been equipping amateur clubs across Germany with kits, making its connection to grassroots sports an integral part of its business model. The donation handover will take place on 18 June at the Kölschbar, alongside the official kit reveal.
